Spectator Seating - Taronga Zoo Sydney NSW

Location

Taronga Zoo is located in the suburb of Mosman on Sydney’s north shore. An incredibly popular destination, the Zoo hosts more than 1.6 million visitors per year.

Requirement

A major seating upgrade was required for the Seal Enclosure to cater for the immensely popular seal exhibitions. Across the tiered seating areas within the enclosure and fitting in with the existing layout and structure, the seating needed to be functional, comfortable, have clean lines, be attractive to the eye, rust-proof and easy to clean and maintain.

Solution

In consultation with BAB Aluminium, Taronga Zoo carefully considered the space based on existing and additional seating needs. With thousands of visitors each day from around the world, the seating needed to be world-class.

For the tiered seating areas around the seal pool, raised single bench aluminium seating was placed on the concrete tier steps to improve seating comfort and fit with the existing layout.

In addition, aluminium bench seats were placed in other available areas to add seating capacity.

Result

The new seating is striking and provides a more comfortable viewing for the visitors. Perfectly in sync with the existing layout, the seating is rust proof, low maintenance and highly durable. With a 20-year structural warranty, they will provide the Seal Enclosure with many years of service.
