Bench Seats - Boonsiri High Speed Ferries, Thailand

.

New Bench Seating. We are proud to present our latest installation for Boonsiri High Speed Ferries in Samut Prakan, Thailand. Designed to deliver premium outdoor seating for multiple high-capacity ferries, this bespoke seating solution reflects the high standards of safety, durability and user comfort required for marine and commuter ferry environments.

Aluminium Bench Seats Marine Seats Project Overview Thailand

The project comprises outdoor decking seating for three ferries operated by Boonsiri High Speed Ferries. As part of the specification, we supplied:

  • 16 units of plain seats (each 0.95 m wide) with backrests
  • 22 units of plain seats (each 1.45 m wide) with backrests
  • 5 units of plain seats (each 1.90 m wide) with backrests

These seats are purpose‑designed for the outdoor deck environment on high‑speed ferries — ensuring passengers travel in comfort, with ergonomic back support, and with seating that meets the rugged demands of the marine and seaside context.

Design Rationale & Specifications Aluminium Bench Seats

In selecting the seat widths (0.95 m, 1.45 m and 1.90 m) we aimed to cater for a variety of passenger loads, group‑seating scenarios, and deck configurations.

  • The 0.95 m width seats are optimal for single passengers or compact seating rows, integrating efficiently in tighter spaces.
  • The 1.45 m width seats accommodate a more generous spacing—ideal for longer journeys or joint seating arrangements.
  • The 1.90 m width seats allow for either two‑person seating or more comfortable individual use, providing premium comfort for longer duration journeys or higher‑class passengers.

All seats were fitted with backrests, recognising that deck‑based seating (especially on high‑speed vessels) must provide good support, while coping with motion, wind and exposure to salt‑air conditions.

Outdoor Decking Bench Seating & Marine Environment Compatibility

Given that the seating is exposed to an outdoor marine environment on high‑speed ferries, durability and low maintenance were paramount. The seating modules are constructed using materials and finishes designed for high‑corrosion environments, UV‑exposure and repeated passenger use under dynamic conditions. The finish on each seat is non‑corroding and easy to maintain — keeping appearance and safety standards high over time.

Installation on three separate ferry outdoor decks demanded precision logistic coordination: each seat module was pre‑fabricated to fit deck anchorage points, with corrosion‑resistant fixings and mountings adapted for marine vibration, deck flex and structural movement during vessel launches and high‑speed transit.

Passenger Experience & Aesthetic Considerations for Aluminium Seating

From a passenger viewpoint, seating comfort and clarity of view are major drivers for satisfaction. By employing back‑rest seats rather than simple benches, we enhance the user experience, increasing dwell time comfort and enabling more relaxed travel. The seat widths give flexibility for different passenger segments: solo commuters, couples, or premium‑class travellers.

Aesthetically, the seating complements the overall deck design of the ferries and allows for clear lines of sight, well‑defined circulation zones, and efficient boarding/disembarkation flows. On the exterior decks of high‑speed vessels, the seating needed to be visually streamlined to match the operational and brand‑led look of Boonsiri High Speed Ferries.

Project Execution & Delivery

The BAB Aluminium team worked closely with the Boonsiri operations and engineering departments to determine load‑specifications, anchor point locations, and finishing treatments suited for high‑speed ferry operation. With three ferries requiring matching seating installations, we managed staging, fabrication and delivery to ensure minimal downtime and coordinated installation.

Quality control: each seat unit underwent marine‑grade corrosion testing and anchorage verification to meet operational safety standards for vessels operating in Thai waters. All backrests and seat shells were treated so that the seating remains stable under dynamic loads and exposed conditions.

Why this Project Matters

This installation represents a key upgrade in marine passenger seating infrastructure for Boonsiri High Speed Ferries. High‑speed ferry operations place elevated demands on seating durability, passenger comfort, and deck layout flexibility. By providing a custom solution—16 × 0.95 m; 22 × 1.45 m; 5 × 1.90 m plain seats with backrests—we deliver a tailored outcome that aligns with the client’s high‑speed ferry operations and passenger expectations.

Furthermore, by implementing outdoor decking seating across all three vessels, the seating project supports operational consistency, brand coherence and maintenance efficiency. With identical seat types deployed across multiple vessels, the ferry operator benefits from standardised spare parts, simplified cleaning regimes and streamlined passenger experience.

Outcomes & Benefits
  • Enhanced passenger comfort across each ferry’s outdoor deck.
  • Durable seat construction designed for marine conditions, minimising long‑term maintenance overhead.
  • Flexible seating widths, enabling tailored layout and passenger segmentation.
  • Consistent seating aesthetic and operational standard across three ferry vessels.
  • Improved circulation and boarding/disembarkation flows on outdoor decks.
  • A high‑quality durable solution that aligns with the premium positioning of Boonsiri High Speed Ferries.

Looking Forward – Aluminium Bench Seating

We anticipate that the seating installations will deliver many years of reliable service, thanks to their robust specification and suitability for outdoor marine use. The format also allows for future modular expansions or refurbishments in line with fleet growth or upgraded passenger class offerings.

If you are looking to upgrade or design outdoor seating for marine, ferry or high‑traffic outdoor transport environments, this project demonstrates how tailored widths, sturdy backrests and outdoor‑ready construction combine to deliver a first‑class result.
